- Ed and his wife, Ann, have been married for 43 years.
- Ed has raised a family in the 86th District for 35 years.
- Ed has run in the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon seven times (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010). Ed has also run in several out-of-state mini-marathons including St. Louis, Phoenix, Oregon as well as one in Kosovo.
- Ed speaks Russian fluently and has a working knowledge of Serbo-Croatian. He loves knocking on the door of a neighbor and conversing whether it be in English, Russian or Serbo-Croation.
- Ed’s first role in public service was as a boy sweeping floors for John F. Kennedy’s 1960 presidential campaign.
- Ed served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant from 1967-1969. He attended the Defense Language Institute where he graduated first in his class and then served at Naval Security Group headquarters in Washington, D.C.
- Ed served as the Indiana Senate Democrat’s Majority Counsel from 1976 – 1977.
- Ed served as Indiana Chairman of the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign.
- Ed was assigned by the United States Department of State to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Kosovo in 2000 – 2001.
- Ed has his pilot’s license.
